Vanesa Gladys Lo Iacono Ferreira

With a doctorate in design, manufacture, and management of industrial projects from Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Vanesa is an accomplished researcher specialising in sustainability and project management. She holds a master’s degree in Textile Engineering and is certified in IPMA Project Management at level D. Throughout her career; she has been actively involved in research, collaborating with esteemed institutions such as the Colorado School of Mines (USA) and Tohoku University (Japan). Her expertise lies in sustainability projects focusing on environmental, social, and economic aspects, including smart city transformations and environmental management logistics operators. Vanesa has successfully led multiple research projects funded by public and private entities, emphasising practical implementation and academic excellence. She is particularly skilled in life cycle analysis, ecological footprint calculation, and developing management systems and key performance indicators for optimised decision-making. Her extensive research contributions include numerous publications in prestigious scientific journals and international congresses, with a particular focus on water contamination and environmental performance analysis of organisations. Vanesa is also an experienced educator, serving as a lecturer at Universitat Politècnica de València (Spain) with active collaboration in other institutions such as LAB University of Applied Science (Finland), Bolivian Catholic University “San Pablo” (Bolivia) and Hogeschool Utrecht (The Netherlands). Additionally, she actively contributes to the advancement of project management and engineering as a member of various professional associations and executive boards. With her strong academic background and research achievements, Vanesa is dedicated to maximising the quality of life in smart cities and working directly with companies and cities to achieve sustainable transformations.
