More and more, organizations are aware of their direct and indirect social and environmental impacts, and are expected to take accountability for these impacts. Sustainability reporting standards and regulations are therefore evolving to ensure transparent, consistent, and extensive disclosure. Within this context, the implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) will raise the bar for sustainability disclosure, leading to an increased awareness of societal impacts of organizations and to further integration of the sustainability considerations into strategy. This will require manage and evaluate projects in a more comprehensive way, applying an extended ‘scope of consideration’ that takes into account the perspective of society and sustainable development.
