Healthcare projects operate in one of the most complex financial environments of any sector—where clinical outcomes, regulatory compliance, patient safety, and cost efficiency must all align.
Discussions will cover:
1. applying practical project costing and financial management principles to healthcare initiatives, from service redesign and digital health implementations to capital equipment investments and infrastructure upgrades.
2. translating core financial management tools—such as budgeting, cost estimation, forecasting, variance analysis, and cash flow planning—into the realities of hospitals, public health systems, and private healthcare providers to support stronger financial governance in healthcare settings.
3. importance of building robust cost baselines, managing direct and indirect costs, evaluating financial risk, and integrating financial reporting with clinical and operational performance indicators.
4. giving special attention to funding models common in healthcare—such as activity-based funding, grant-funded programs, and value-based care—and how these affect project financial controls.
5. exploring how to improve decision-making by linking financial data to patient outcomes, enabling leaders to justify investments, prioritize portfolios, and demonstrate value for money to stakeholders.
