Webinar explores the role of values in shaping climate actions within municipalities in the Global North. The research investigates how various values influence decision-making in municipal climate actions. A central part of the study involved examining an “insight network tool” designed to visualize the causal relationships between values and actions.

The study employs a qualitative approach, featuring two rounds of semi-structured interviews with climate experts from municipalities in Australia, Finland, and the United States. The first round identified values influencing specific climate actions, while the second round validated these findings and assessed the practical application of the insight network tool.

The findings emphasize the importance of incorporating value-based thinking into municipal decision-making. By highlighting prioritized values and their impacts, the insight network tool facilitates more transparent and sustainable decision-making processes. This research provides new perspectives for enhancing value-focused approaches in municipal climate strategies.
